Busy Weekend for Saints Athletics

It was a busy weekend for Mercyhurst North East athletics as both men's, women's basketball teams played home games on Saturday, and the wrestling team was in Jamestown on Sunday.

Starting with the women's hoops game, they were victorious over the Katz of Erie CC by a final score of 64-47.

Brieyeah Cook led the way for the Saints scoring 18 points on 8-11 shooting. Shaquoia McCray added 15 points and an impressive 17 rebounds in the winning effort. Alissa Johnson had 14 points while Nia Phillips collected a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Saints record now stands at 12-4 as they are at Monroe CC Wednesday

 

Next up was men's basketball as they took on a tough Erie CC team. Coming into the contest on Saturday ECC had only one loss. The Saints struggled to hang with the Katz falling by a final score of 115-67.

Mario Antenor was impressive on the offensive end scoring 22 points while Tahjmere Jones chipped in 17 and 5 steals.

The Saints are now 10-8 overall as they head to Monroe CC in Rochester on Wednesday.

 

The final event of the weekend for the athletic department was wrestling at the Jamestown open.

The Saints saw three of their wrestler's medal at the event. At 125 lbs., Nick Oosterkamp took second place, at 157 lbs., Spencer Head took third and at 197, Hunter Harnsih won the event taking first place
