MNE Splits A Pair with Potomac State

Max Schrantz hit a homerun to lead MNE past Potomac State 9-7 in game one. Schrantz had two hits and two RBI with a 2 run homerun. With the Saints lead 7-5 in the top of the 7th lead off with a single to right, Carrington Bell followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Tyler Ocker hit a two rbi single to score both. After AJ Thompson's single put runners on the corners Cam Balego hit a sac fly that brought home Ocker and scored the 10th MNE.

Tyler Slepski got the start for the Saints and threw 4 strong innings only allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. Alex Glatch got into a jam in the 5th inning. Solano picked up the win throwing 2 runs, one earned, on 5 hits. Austin Alonge came on to get the final out and his first save of the season. Solano improved to 3-0 on the year.

In game two Potomac State came out swinging and scored 4 runs in the first. Starter Vince Pitzulo battled for the Saints but in the end the bats of Potomac were just too hot. MNE could only muster up 3 hits and three runs. Thompson Alonge and D'Orso had the only hits for the Saints. Pitzulo suffered his first loss of the year and fell to 2-1. MNE will take on Lakeland Community College at 11:00 am at Mercyhurst Erie Campus Field on Wednesday.
