Mercyhurst North East took two out of three from visiting Community College of Rhode Island by the scores 7-0 and 5-4 on Saturday and lost game three on Sunday 4-2. In game one for the Saints Tyler Slepski was the story as he threw a complete game shutout allowing just 4 hits and struck out 5. Cam Balego and Bobby Dragon each had two hits. Sabatino Dinardo and Dragon hit doubles for the Saints.
In game two Max Schrantz was the hero after his walk off base hit in the bottom of the 8th. Keyshawn D'Orso led of the inning with a walk and then stole second. CCRI intentionally walked Dinardo to put runners at 1st and 2nd with one out and Schrantz hit a soft line drive up the middle that scored D'Orso. Austin Alonge got the win in relief to pick up his first win of the year. Vince Pitzulo threw 6 strong innings also for MNE.
In the 3rd game of the series on Sunday Mercyhurst NE's 10 game winning streak was snapped losing the 3rd game of the series 4-2 to CCRI. Tyler Ocker had two hits for the Saints. Jim Solano took the loss as he allowed 2 runs in two innings. Alex Glatch threw two innings of shutout ball and Michael Mack threw the final 5 innings allowing 2 runs. MNE had it chances as they left the bases loaded in the 4th and runners in scoring position in 5 out of the 9 innings. The Saints are now 18-7 and CCRI will improve to 14-6.
