Pitching and a late game homerun lead Saints past Tribunes

Freshman catcher, Sabatino Dinardo, hit a clutch one out homerun in the top of the 7th one to lead Mercyhurst North East past Monroe Community College 2-1. Pitching was the real story for Mercyhurst North East. Redshirt freshmen Michael Mack and Jim Solano both threw complete games for the Saints.

In game one Michael Mack threw 4 2/3 no hit ball and finished the game only allowing 1 run on two hits while striking out 6 MCC batters. Monroe scored their only run after a two out walk and then a triple by Brett Sanders brought in Jimmy Latona.

The Saints opened the scoring in the 2nd after Bobby Dragon reached on a lead off error by first baseman. Dragon stole second and then advanced to third on a ground ball by Keyshawn D'Orso. Sabatino Dinardo picked up the rbi with a ground out to second.

AJ Thompson, Cam Balego, and D'Orso each had hits for the Saints.

In game two it was much of the same for MNE. Solano allowed just three hits and two runs, one earned and struck out six to pick up his fourth win of the season.

MNE jumped out on top in the first after a lead off walk to AJ Thompson, Balego hit a double to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Austin Alonge reached on an error which drove Thompson in to put the first run up on the board. Keyshawn D'Orso pick up and RBI with a ground out to short that brought in Balego and gave the Saints a 2-0 lead.

The Saints scored the go ahead run in the 3rd after Bobby Dragon drew a two out walk, D'Orso hit an RBI triple to score him. They added one more insurance run in the 5th off with a double and Cam Balego walked. Austin Alonge sac bunted them to second and third and Dragon hit a deep sac fly to score AJ Thompson from third.

Mercyhurst improved to 11-6 on the year and 2-0 in Region 3. The Saints will be back in action Sunday at Westmoreland Community College in double header starting at 1:00.
