MNE defeated GCC in back to back games 8-7, 11-1 to capture the Region III title and their 2nd in 3 years. In the first game Jim Solano pitched 6 solid innings allowing 2 runs and 1 earned to get the win. Alex Glatch came on in relief and Austin Alonge got the save.
MNE Broke the game open as they put up 5 runs in the 5th inning after trailing 2-1. Carrington Bell got things started with a lead off single. Tyler Ocker was hit by a pitch and then AJ Thompson singled. With the bases loaded Cam Balego drove a ball in the left center gap for a double that cleared the bases. Alonge followed that up with and RBI single that scored Balego, and Alonge would later come around and score on a wild pitch. The Saints delivered the final blow when Sabatino Dinardo launched a two run homerun over the left field fence to give the Saints a 6 run lead.
In the top half of the 9th GCC put across 5 runs but Austin Alonge came in to shut the door and get a ground ball to first base to finish it up. Cam Balego lead the Saints with 3 hits and AJ Thompson and Carrington Bell had two hits a piece.
In game two MNE pounded out 14 hits and scored 11 runs to earn the victory. Sabatino Dinardo hit his second home run of the game to lead the Saints. AJ Thompson had 3 hits and Cam Balego, Austin Alonge, and Sabatino Dinardo all had two hits. Vince Pitzulo was the difference for MNE. He threw a complete game and allowed just 1 run on 9 hits but didn't walk a single batter.
