Saints Baseball Receives Preseason Recognition

The Mercyhurst North East Saints baseball program was selected as the #16 team in the DII Junior College Poll in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The Saints are coming off the most successful year in school history with a record of 31-10 and their second Region III title. MNE was one game away from the 2014 Junior College World Series in Enid, Oklahoma. Catcher Sabatino Dinardo and starting pitcher Jim Solano, two returners from last year team, were on the Top 100 players to watch list in all of JUCO baseball as well.

The NJCAA came out with their latest players to watch this in the East District and Dinardo and Cody Pitzo topped the list for the Saints. Dinardo, the future Akron Zip, led the Region in homeruns last year with 7. Cody Pitzo hit .323 last spring for MNE.

Jim Solano and Jamie Lauria were on the top returning pitchers list. Solano was the Pitcher of the Year last spring with an 8-1 record. Lauria, after coming back from Tommy John, led the Saints in saves with 4 and had a 2.51 ERA.

Drew Delsignore was on the Top 4 Year transfer list after he spent half a year at Marietta, and the second semester at Youngstown State University.
