In game one Jim Solano shut out the Tribunes. "Solano had all of his stuff working today, said Saints Head Coach Dan Bertolini. "He has really stepped up for us this year."
Solano allowed just 4 hits and only two players to get into scoring position while striking out 7. Adam Gasiorowski had a nice game for MNE going 3-3 with two runs scored. The game was won in the 3rd inning after Cody Pitzo led off the inning with a single and Jake Bulick bunted him over to second. Adam Gasiorowski hit a single to put runners on the corners when Brian Casiano doubled down the right field line that brought home Pitzo. Drew Delsignore fought off a two strike pitch to right field that scored both Casiano and Gasiorowski.
Scott Pierce then walked and Mike Montalbano hit a grounder back to the pitcher which allowed Delsignore and Pierce to move up a base but Delsignore tried to score on the throw and the Tribunes 1st baseman made an errant throw trying to get Drew at home and the run scored to complete the four run 3rd.
MNE tacked one more run on in the 7th after Gasiorowski hit a ground rule double, Casiano bunted him to third and Delsignore drove him in with a sac fly.
Game two was a wild one. MNE lead 7-1 when starter Jordan Ransom left the game after 5 complete. The MCC bats would not go quietly as they put up a 6 run 6th to tie the game at 7. Joe Grober came in and stopped the bleeding with a bases loaded pop out to end the inning.
MNE responded in the 8th. With the game tied at seven, Adam Gasiorowski led off with a single. Brian Casiano was unable to bunt the runner over and struck out swinging. Drew Delsignore was there to pick him up though with his 6th homerun of the season and give the Saints the lead 9-7.
MCC would get a run in the bottom of the 8th to make it a one run game. MNE tacked on two more in the 9th when an error by the MCC shortstop allowed Marcus Gunter to score and then Casiano brought home Bulick on a double to give North East the three run advantage.
The game would get interesting in the bottom of the 9th. Marcus Gunter hit the leadoff hitter and then gave up a double to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. MCC's Elliot Hopkins hit a two run triple and represented the tying run. Gunter then hit Jimmy Latona. Gunter struck out the next hitter then issued a walk to Angel Diaz. With the bases loaded and the winning run on second Gunter struck out the next hitter and got the final out with a ground ball to third, where Casiano was able to get the runner at second to end it.
Joe Gorber got his 1st win of the season and Marcus Gunter picked up the save. The Saints pounded out 18 hits including 7 batters having multi-hit games, Delsignore led the charge with 3 hits and 3 RBI. Casiano and Pitzo each had 3 hits as well.
