Saints Win a Pair of One Run Games

Mercyhurst North East Saints swept a double header from the Community College of Rhode Island Knights 5-4, 2-1 behind great pitching from the Saints. 

In game one Nolan Freeman got the win on the hill for MNE. Freeman scattered 8 hits and struck out 4. Win the Saints trailing by a run in the top of the 4th Scott Pierce drew a lead off walk and Mike Montalbano hit a 2 run homerun that tied the game at 3-3. 

CCRI responded with a run in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead 4-3. In the top of the 7th Montalbano collected his 3rd hit of the game when he lead off the inning with a lead off double. Malike Madison came in to pinch run for Montalbano and advanced to third on a ball in the dirt. Sabatino Dinardo walked to put runners on the conrners. Zack Miller drove a fastball to deep right center that scored one to tie the game and Marcus Gunter hit a sac fly to seal the win for the Saints

In game two a two run homerun from Drew Delsignore was all the Saints would need. Nick Woloschak threw a gem for MNE. He allowed just 4 hits and struck out 4 in the complete game win. 

Delsignore's 8th home run broke the record previously held by current Saints player Sabatino Dinardo with 7.

MNE improved to 16-13 and have now won six straight games. They will complete the series vs CCRI tomorrow at 12:00 pm.
