7 Game winning Streak Snapped, Saints lose 9-8

In a slugfest the Saints dropped a game to Cuyahoga Community College 9-8, snapping their 7 game winning streak.

MNE started out sluggish and in the first 4 innings were held scoreless. Tri C took the lead in the 3rd when they put up 3 runs with two outs against starter Jordan Ransom. Ransom struck out the would be 3rd batter of the inning but the ball it the front of the plate and bounced over Drew Delsignore' s head and all the way to the back stop. The next batter hit an infield single. Ransom hit the next batter and then a single scored two to open up the scoring. Tri C added four more in the 4th to take a 6-0 lead.

MNE did not go quietly. Sabatino Dinardo opened up the 5th with a single and then two bunt singles loaded the bases for Heath Hildreth hit a two RBI single to get the Saints on the board.

MNE added two more in the 6th after Zack Miller walked, Sabatino Dinardo took the 0-1 pitch out to deep right center field for his 12th homerun of the year and cut the scored to 7-4.

In the 7th Drew DelSignore walked to lead off the inning and Scott Pierce hit his 2nd homerun of the year to add two more runs for the Saints.

Trailing 7-6 going into the 8th Brian Casiano walked and Drew Delsignore hit a double that scored Casiano. Scott Pierce followed that up with a single that scored Delsignore to take the lead 8-7.

Tri C scored two in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead and the win over the Saints 9-8.

Scott Pierce and Sabatino Dinardo had three hits apiece including a homerun, and Marcus Gunter and Heath Hildreth had two hits apiece to lead the Saints.

MNE will take on the Gannon University JV baseball team in a double header on Friday and then will play Penn State Behrend on Saturday to finish their regular season. The Saints are now 23-18 on the year.
