Baseball Has Record Setting Year

Even though the Saints came up short in the Region III title game, MNE set almost every offensive record in school history. The Saints set many team and individual records throughout the year.

The 2015 Saints set 6 offensive records this season and also set the single season strike out record on the hill. The 2015 team now leads in at bats (1354, hits (418), Doubles (96), home runs (33), RBI's (259), and runs (317). The Saints pitching staff struck out a school record 249 batters this season as well.

9 players received post season recognition including 4 first team selections. Scott Pierce, Drew Delsignore, Jim Solano and Sabatino Dinardo were all first team selections. Mike Montalbano, Adam Gasiorowski, Nick Woloschak, Brian Casiano, and Zack Miller all made the second team.

Sabatino Dinardo had a huge year including a record setting 15 homeruns. His 15 home runs are ranked 10th in the nation. He finished his career as the single season leader (15) and career leader (22). He also set the single season mark for Runs Batted In (57). To add to his already impressive career, Dinardo also scored 40 runs this season which is good for second on the single season record board. Dinardo will be nominated for NJCAA All American and continue his career next season at Akron University.

Jim Solano continued his dominance here at Mercyhurst North East.  Solano finished the season with a 7-2 record. His 7 wins ranks second behind his 8 wins from last season. Jim finished the season with 71.2 innings pitched which ranks 2nd. His 15 career wins is second all-time in Saints history. Solano finished with the number 1 spot for career ERA with his 2.10 earned run average. He finished 3rd in school history in single season strikeouts (68) and 2nd all-time (111).

Drew Delsignore had a huge freshman season for the Saints. Delsignore set the school record for hits (58), and runs scored (46). He finished the season with a .406 batting average which is good for 5th. He finished 2nd in the single season mark for RBI's (49). Drew is also second in single season home runs (10) and in the top 10 in doubles, at bats, and stole 14 bases.

Scott Pierce had a great year as well. Pierce finished the year with a .390 batting average which ranked 10th in the single season records. He finished tied for second in hits (55). Scott hit 3 home runs and drove in 43 RBI's which are both in the top 10. Pierce scored 39 runs this season which is good for 3rd .

Mike Montalbano hit .327 for the Saints this spring. His 14 doubles ranks third in school history. Monty hit 3 home runs and had 29 RBI's and stole 9 bases this season.

 Adam Gasiorowski finished the season with a .344 batting average and had 8 doubles for the Saints. Gas battled several injuries throughout the year and finished with 14 walks and 8 rbi's. Adam preformed his best when it counted most. The Conference play he hit .500 with 4 doubles for MNE.

Nick Woloschak had a very impressive freshman year. Nick finished the year with a 6-3 record including 3 wins in the Region. Nick threw 4 complete games this season including a 10 inning win vs Genesee CC. Nick won the opening round game of the Region III tournament against Genesee CC.

Brian Casiano played a great third base for the Saints. Casiano finished the year hitting .279 but lead the team in walks with 24. He made some spectacular plays down the stretch for the Saints and hit 8 doubles 3 triples and a home run.

Zack Miller was a new comer for the Spring of 2015. Miller hit .344 with 11 doubles a triple and knocked in 16 RBI's. He was 5th on the team in hits and stole 5 bases for the Saints.
