DelSignore Signs with Mercyhurst

The Mercyhurst North East Baseball program would like to announce that Drew DelSignore has signed with Mercyhurst University for the 2016-17 season.

DelSignore, a red-shirt sophomore from Youngstown, Ohio, played his high school ball at Cardinal Mooney.  Last year for the Saints, DelSignore lead the team in at bats, runs, hits, and stolen bases.  Drew's 58 hits were a school record and he also batted a team high .403 and hit an impressive 10 homeruns.

"I am really proud of Drew and very happy that he will be able to continue his career at Mercyhurst. He has been a great leader and a workhorse for our team and I look for great things from Drew this season and in the future.," said Saints Head Coach Dan Bertolini.

The Mercyhurst North East Saints will now have sent 9 players to Mercyhurst in the last 3 seasons including 7 Saints on last years World Series team. DelSignore will join, former Saints Sabatino Dinardo, Cameron Balego, Jamie Lauria, and Jim Solano on the squad in 2017.

DelSignore commented about signing at Mercyhurst, "I am very excited and feel extremely blessed to be given the opportunity to continue playing at Mercyhurst next season.  I want to thank Coach Bertolini here at MNE for giving me a chance to continue my baseball career when I thought it might have been over. I can't say enough about my experience here at North East and how much it has helped me, and I really look forward continuing that great Mercyhurst experience next year for Coach Spano and the Lakers.

The Saints will open up the 2016 season against Harford Community College in Maryland on February 27th and 28th before traveling to South Carolina on the spring trip.
