MNE Bats Stay Hot

The MNE Saints blasted 4 homeruns in a double header vs Genesse CC to sweep the Cougars 11-4, 11-10. The Saints combined for 19 hits and 21 runs in the double header.

In game one Genesee jumped out to an early two run lead but Mercyhurst answered with a 4 run inning and never looked back. Drew Delsingnore had three hits including a homerun and Scott Pierce added another homerun to his team leading total. The Final score was MNE 11, Genesee 4.

Nolan Freeman pitched a solid four innings. He allowed 6 hits and 3 runs, two of which were earned. He picked up his team leading 4th victory and Joe Grober threw three solid innings in relief to pick up the save.

In game two it was the Saints would jumped out the early 2-0 lead after one but Genesee came storming back with 3 runs in each of the second and third innings to increase the lead 6-2. Mike Montalbano hit a big 3 run homerun and was followed back to back with a solo shot from Zach Miller to give MNE the a 9-6 advantage. Mercyhurst tacked on one more in the 5th and held an 11-7 advantage.

Jordan Ransom came on for starter Nick Woloschak and got the Saints out of a jam to end the 5th. In the 7th with the snow coming down Genesee was able to score three run and bring the tying run 90 feet away. Ransom induced a 1-2-3 game ended double play to get out of the jam and preserve the win for the Saints.

Mike Montalbano and Kenny Robinson each had two hits. Woloschak pick up he third win of the year. MNE improved to 15-12.
