Strong Pitching and the Long Ball lead Saints past GCC

Dalton Donachie pitched just the second comeplete game of the year for MNE to beat GCC in game two 9-2. Trent Collins and Joe Grober combined to allow just two runs in game one for the victory.

In game one Trent Collins only blemish came in the 3rd inning when Genesee scored two runs and took the lead 2-0. The Saints blew the game open with a big bases loaded 2 rbi double by Luke Baranchak that tied the game and Jesse Staudt blasted his first of two homeruns on the day to clear the bases and extend the lead to 5-2.

The Saints tacked on one more run in the 7th. Vincent Jacob hit alead off triple to right and Keyshawn D'Orso hit a triple of his own to score Jacob.

Collins threw 4 1/3 innings allowing two runs on 6 hits and struck out two. Grober came in to close the door with 2 2/3 inning of scoreless baseball.

In game two Dalton Donachie gave up two runs in the second and that was all the scoring for Genesee CC. In the 3rd Vincent Jacob and Kenny Robinson hit back to back singles to start the inning and Luke Baranchak hit his second double of the day to tie the game.

The Saints added one in the 4th as Pedro Peguero stole second and Montalbano stole home to give MNE a 3-2 advantage.

In the 5th Baranchak got hit by a pitch and Staudt hit his second homeru of the day to extend the lead to 5-2.

Tom Cannon blast his second homerun of the season in the 6th and the Saionts added 3 more in the 7th when Brandon Johnston scored on a wild pitch and an rbi single by Blaze Chamberlain.

Donachie finished the game allowing 6 hits and 2 runs while walking none and striking out 6.

The Saints will be in action Saturday at home vs Lorain CCC at 1:00 pm for their annual Breast Cancer Awarness game.
