Saints Honor Sophomores

The 2016 sophomore class has been one of the most successfull groups in school history. When it is all said and done the 2016 group will have school records for just about every statistical category in the MNE record books. Here is a list of the sophomores accomplishments.

#1 Vincent Jacob- after redshirting in 2015 Vince has really emerged on the scene for MNE. Vince is currently hitting .340 with 3 doubles a triple and a home run. Vince has been a lock down defender in left field and a leader on the field and off. Vince will be graduating with a degree in criminal justice and plans on continuing baseball next year.

 #4 Jordan Ransom- Jordan has been a staple of the pitching staff the past two seasons. Currently Jordan is 2-2 with a 4.70 ERA. He has worked in both a starting position and in relief. Jordan will be graduating with a degree in criminal justice and plans on continuing his baseball career at Thiel.
 #5 Pedro Peguero- Pedro has been a shining example of what is means to be a student athlete. Pedro is the winner of the 2016 Medal of Honor. He has worked extremely hard to become the player that he is today. Pedro can always be seen putting in extra work and always has a smile on his face. Pedro is hitting .348 with 11 doubles and two home runs. Pedro will be graduating as a double major with degrees in marketing and sports management and will be continuing his baseball career next year.
 
#7 Brandon Johnston- Brandon has been the consummate teammate. He has done whatever the coaching staff has asked of him in his two years. Last season Brandon played the majority of his time in the outfield and has pinch ran and even caught some for the Saints. This year along with his outfield duties he has seen significant time on the mound. In Brandon's most recent game he threw a complete game win vs Lorain Community College. BJ will be graduating with a degree in liberal arts.
 

#10 Michael Montalbano- Monty has been a big part of the Saints success in the past two seasons. Mike has shown some great leadership on and off the field. He has been a power hitter for the Saints as he hit 3 home runs last year and he currently has 4 this season. Mike his hitting .337 and leads the team with 17 bases on balls. Monty was a second team All-Region selection a year ago. Mike will be graduating with a degree in liberal arts and will be continuing his baseball career next season.

 

#11 Tom Cannon- After Cannon had an arm injury that sidelined him in all of 2015, he has bounced back and is off to a great start to the season. Cannon has hit two home runs and is hitting .311. Cannon is a great team mate, always doing whatever is best for the team and is a great student. Cannon will graduate with a 3.5 GPA with a degree in criminal justice. Tom will continue his baseball career next year.

 

#12 Joe Grober Joe has been a vital part of the team's success this season. Joe pitched some limited innings in relief last season. After having some arm trouble the coaching staff wasn't sure what Grober was going to be able to give them. Joe came out and has set the record with appearances in a season already with an astonishing 20 appearances in 38 games and is 3-0 with two saves. He has been a workhorse for them out of the bullpen. Grober is an RA and is graduating with a 3.5 GPA with a degree in liberal arts. Joe will be continuing his baseball career next season.

 

#13 Jesse Staudt- Jesse has had a monster year so far in 2016. After missing the second half of the year after due to an appendectomy in 2015 Jesse has reached base safely in 33 out of the 35 games he has played in, in 2016. Staudt sported a 15 game hit streak earlier in the year and is currently leading the team in hits and batting average. Jesse has shown some power too with 3 homeruns on the year. Jesse will be graduating with a degree in criminal justice and plans on continuing his baseball career at Mt. Vernon Nazarene in Columbus, OH

 

#16 Nick Woloschak- After winning 6 games for the Saints in 2015, Nick has picked up just where he left off. Nick is 3-1 and has pitched some big games along the way. Nick will be in the top 5 in school history in innings pitched and wins. Nick has been a constant in the rotation and will be continuing his baseball career next year.

 

#20 Keyshawn D'Orso- After having a great year in the Saints historic 2014 season, D'Orso transferred to DI Norfolk St. After redshirting he was able to transfer in and make an immediate impact. Keyshawn has hit 3 homeruns and drove in 13. He has walked 16 times out of the leadoff spot. Keyshawn will graduate with a degree in liberal arts and will continue his baseball career next year.

 #21 Nolan Freeman- Nolan has had a breakout year in 2016. After getting some valuable experience last season, Nolan has emerged as the #1 for the Saints. Nolan is 6-1 with a 4.46 ERA. Nolan leads the team in innings pitched, strikeouts and era. Nolan threw a complete game shutout against #17 Tri C this season. Nolan will be graduating with a degree in liberal arts and will be planning on continuing his baseball career at Mercyhurst Next year.
 #23 Trenton Collins- Trent redshirted in 2015 and after hard work he has become a big part of the pitching staff success in 2016. Trent has had some big wins this season including a win over Olney Central and a relief win against #17 Tri C. Trent is 3-4 this season and will be graduating with a degree in liberal arts. He will be continuing his baseball career next year.
 #24 Ethan Pagley- Ethan has been a jack of all trades while here at MNE. Pagley has played 3rd, 2nd, SS, and also caught. Ethan has had some tough luck this season as has he has been plagued with injuries. He hit .343 last season with two doubles. He has done everything that has been asked of him and will graduate with a degree in liberal arts. Ethan plans on continuing his baseball career next year.
 #25 Scott Pierce- Scott has had a remarkable career at MNE. Scott is in the top 5 in almost every statistical offensive category. Pierce is hitting .433 and is leading the team in homeruns and RBI. Despite breaking his hand and missing the Region III Championship game last season and suffering a severe ankle injury this spring Pierce has been a constant in the lineup. Scott was a 2015 All Region Selection and plans on continuing his baseball career at Mercyhurst next year.
 #33 Drew Delsignore- Drew has had arguably one of the best careers ever here at Mercyhurst North East. Drew will be in the top two in all of the major offensive categories in school history. Not only has he been a great player but a great leader. He is currently hitting .392 with 5 homeruns and 11 doubles. He is leading the team in slugging percentage and run scored. He has the school record for runs scored and is second in homeruns and rbi's. Drew signed at Mercyhurst University in the fall and will graduate with a degree in liberal arts.
 
#34 Zack Miller- after transferring from Potomac State last spring Zack has been a force to be reckoned with. Miller has little regard for his body as he will sacrifice himself to do what it takes to get the job done. Miller is currently hitting .355 and leading the team with 12 doubles. Zack's toughness has rubbed off on the team and he has been a real leader. Zack will graduate with a 3.5 GPA with a degree in New Media. Zack plans on continuing his baseball career next season.
