The Saints came from behind to beat Gannon JV 8-7 in 10 innings. A very sloppy game early on for the Saints allowed Gannon to jump out to a 5-1 lead through the first 7 innings. The Saints committed four errors and the offense could only muster up 4 hits in the first 7 innings but broke it open in the 8th.
In the top of the 8th Tom Cannon and Keyshawn D'Orso drew back to back walks to lead off the frame and Joel Cruz was walked with one out to load the bases. Zack Miller delivered with his third hit of the afternoon with a one out 2 rbi double to draw the Saints within two runs. Pedro Peguero reached on an error that loaded the bases for Blaze Chamberlain. Chamberlain took a 2-2 pitch and ripped it in to the left center gap for a bases clearing triple and gave MNE the lead 6-5. Two pitches later Blaze straight stole home to give North East a two run advantage.
In the 8th after reliever Zach Barrett had pitched 2 scoreless innings, he gave up a two out walk and then a double down the right field line that scored the base runner but the ball was thrown away trying to get the runner at third and allowed both runs to score and tied the game at 7-7.
Joe Grober worked out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the 9th to push the game into extra frames.
In the 10th, Pedro Peguero hit a one out single to left and Jesse Staudt delivered a clutch two out double that scored Peguero and gave MNE a one run lead and the eventual win.
Brandon Johnston got the start for North East and pitched 3 innings allowing just one run and struck out one. Dalton Donachie pitched two and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs but no earned. Zach Barrett was strong in the pen allowing two runs and one earned in 3 innings of work. Joe Grober picked up his 4th win in his school record 21st apperance.
Zach Miller lead the offense with 3 hits and 3 rbi. Drew Delsignore hit two doubles and Blaze Chamberlain had two hits as well. The Saints improved to 27-15 on the year and will take on CCAC South Sunday.
