Saints Record Breaking Season ends in Region III Title Game

In a year where the Saints have broken almost every school record, they dropped the final game of the season to Monroe Community College 17-5 in the Region III Championship game.

Jesse Staudt, Keyshawn D'Orso had two hits and Scott Pierce had two hits including a homerun in the top of the 8th.

Drew Delsignore extended his school record hitting streak to 27 straight games. Delsignore finished with career leads in hits, rbi's homeruns, and runs scored. He is also second in single season hits and homeruns.

With Jesse Staudt' s final hit of the season he broke the school record for hits with his 62nd of the year. He edged out Delsignore' s 61.

The Saints finished the season with school records in at bats (1442), hits (492), doubles (118), homeruns (50), batting average (.341), runs scored (492), walks (177), and RBI's (320). The Saints pitching staff struck out a school record 293 batters.

Mercyhurst North East ranks 8th in the nation in doubles and slugging percentage, 11th in homeruns, 13th in batting average, 31st in runs scored, and 34th in RBI's and hits.

The Saints finished the season with 30 wins for the second time in 3 years.

The Saints pitching staff set several school records as well. Starter Nolan Freeman finished the year with 8 wins, which ties Jim Solano's school record. Joe Grober' s final start of the year finished off his impressive 24th appearance of the year which is the school record. He also added to his career record of 34 appearances.
