Crum Named Newest Saints Baseball Coach

The Mercyhurst North East Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Brandon Crum as the newest Head Baseball Coach for the Saints. Crum will take over the program from fomer head coach Dan Bertolini, who accepted the position as head baseball coach for Youngstown State this summer.

Crum brings with him nearly a decade of playing and coaching experience to the Saints. A former 3 year team captain for the Gannon University baseball team, Crum excelled not only on the field but in the classroom as he was a 3 year All-Academic Team award winner. In 2010, he was selected to the PSAC All-Conference team as a catcher for the Golden Knights.

After graduating from Gannon, Crum began his coaching career with Allegheny College as an Assistant Baseball Coach & Recruiting Coordinator for the Gators. On the field, he spent time as the pitching coach and the 3rd base coach for the Gators. Crum is also active in the American Legion as he has been the head coach of an elite summer program in Saegertown, PA for the past 8 years.

"I am very excited to bring Brandon on to the staff to guide our baseball team," says Saints Athletic Director Brian Dewey. "Brandon emerged from a very qualified batch of candidates this summer. He has the right amount of recruiting and coaching experience at the college level and I know he is ready to be a successful head coach."

Crum will begin his role as Saints head coach immediately. Kyle Hagerich, who filled in as interim head coach while the search was underway will remain the Assistant Coach for the 2016-2017 season.
