Saints Lose to Avery Point

The MNE Baseball team kicked off their post season this afternoon, but lost 12-5 to the University of Connecticut at Avery Point.

The University of Connecticut at Avery Point found their groove quickly, swinging hot bats from start to finish. Despite the loss, the MNE offense showed signs of promise heading into tomorrow, as Brandon ScheidemantleRobby Korff, and Chris Reilly each collected two hits apiece in the game.

Chris Reilly and Dylan Kurcon also showed off some power by connecting for three combined triples, with Reilley hitting two.

When asked about the loss and about how the team can respond heading into tomorrow, Head Coach Jake Marinelli commented:

"I'm proud of the way our team battled today as a group. We made some mistakes that they captialized on. Moving forward, we know what it is going to take. We have to compete our butts off and take advantage of our opportuntieis. Im excited to do that with this group of guys."

The Saints are still alive and await their opponent for Saturdays game, which is scheduled to start at 12:00PM. In game two, MNE will play the loser of the MCC and Avery Point game.
