Nov 22, 2013

For the second time this week, Mercyhurst North East knocked off an undefeated ranked team. This time the Saints scored a one-point victory over the number 4 ranked team in the nation at home.

The win avenged the Saints only loss this season, coming at CCBC on November 2nd. Since then, the Saints have rattled off seven wins in a row.

Mercyhurst led the entire game, including a 15 point lead at the half. CCBC came back to pull within a possession several times but the Saints maintained the lead. CCBC fouled late and Mercyhurst had three straight misses at the free throw line to give the Titans the ball with 3.5 seconds and Mercyhurst ahead 96-95.

The Titans leading scorer tied to win the game but his shot was off the mark and the Saints celebrated.

Soutiri Sapnas led the Saints with 26 points on 7-of-17 shooting. Damon Jones had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Brandon Dawson had 16 points while Devonte Isom scored 14, respectively.

Je'Land Head played a great all around game with 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Mercyhurst will be back in action Tuesday when they face Cuyahoga Community College on the road.
