Balanced Scoring Leads the Saints Past Tri-C

The Mercyhrust North East Saints (6-4) had four players scoring in double figure as they defeated the Chargers of Cuyahoga Community College (6-6) 69-59 Thursday night in Ligouri Field House.

The Saints came in firing on all cylinders taking an 8-2 lead in the opening 2 minutes behind 5 straight points from Gerrell Williams. Cuyahoga responded with a run of their own taking their first lead 11-10 at the 15 minute mark.

A back and forth game the entire first half that saw 4 lead changes and 4 ties, however the Saints held a 34-31 advantage going into the break.

As the second half got underway,  the Saints started off hot going on a 7-2 run to take a 41-33 lead. Cuyahoga would once again answer with a run of their own but would only pull within 4 points the rest of the contest. 

Johnell Free scored 7 of his 11 points in the final two minutes of the game helping the Saints put away a tough Cuyahoga Community College team with a final decision of 69-59.

"We stressed making the extra pass all week and it was very rewarding seeing that our scoring was so spread" commented Head Coach David Gahan.

Shequon Lindsey and Justin Vaughan both contributed 11 points to help lead a balanced scoring attack for the Saints.

Larentz Thurman led Cuyahoga with 13 points respectively.  

The Saints are back in action Monday December 7thas they travel to Pitt-Titusville for a rematch where the Saints won 110-91 earlier in the year.
