North East, PA- The Mercyhurst North East men's basketball team extended their winning streak to six-games with a 100-57 victory over the Titans of Butler County Community College.
The Saints used a 12-2 run to open the game, which was sparked by six straight points and two dunks from Gerrell Williams that helped build the Saints lead. However, the Titans refused to go away making a run of their own, pulling within 2 points of the lead 13-11.
This is as close as the Titans would get as the Saints went on an 18-5 run to take a commanding 31-16 lead with 5 minutes remaining in the first half.
At the break the Saints held a 43-23 advantage.
Butler started the second half with back-to-back threes to help cut the lead down but the Saints had an answer as big man Ike Jones scored 6 points to keep the lead at 20 points.
The Saints had six players in double figures as Gerrell Williams and Johnell Free paced the Saints with 13 points apiece.
Going into the break, the Saints are currently 10-4 and open up region play at Geneesee Community College for a 7:30PM tip on January 12th.
