Saints Suffer First Home Loss of the Season

(North East, Pa) The Mercyhurst North East men's basketball surrendered their first home loss of the season behind 21 points scored by Jonathan Pozo of Erie Community College in a WNYAC showdown.

Throughout a back and fourth first half, that saw 8 lead changes, Mercyhurst North East found themselves down 6 points at halftime. Pozo led the pace for ECC scoring 5 3-pointers in the first half. The Saints were led by Johnell Free's 9 points 5 rebounds in the first half.

The second half saw ECC start off on a 9-0 run to build their halftime lead. The Saints would chip away at the deficit but never found themselves cutting the lead to single digits until the final minute of the game.

As the final buzzer sounded, the Saints fell 78-71 to the Kats. High scorer for the Saints was Johnell Free with 14 points and 6 rebounds, Shaquon Lindsay chipped in with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Justin Vaughan finished with 12 points.

With the defeat, the Saints moved to 15-6 on the season while the Kats advanced to 12-9. The Saints are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Monroe Community College to battle the Tribunes in a conference match-up.
