
The Mercyhurst North East Men's Basketball team fell on the road to Erie Community College 69-59 Saturday afternoon. This is the Saints 7th consecutive loss in a row for the Saints.
From the jump, the Saints used a 9-5 run to break open the game with Omar Little Jr. contributing five points to the early start.
Erie would respond and tie the game up at 9-9 at the 13:02 mark, which would lead to a back and forth lead exchanging first half.
Building on their largest lead of the half, ECC held a 35-26 advantage with two minutes and change remaining before Mercyhurst closed the half out on an 8-2 run. At the break the Kats of Erie Community College lead 37-34.
Coming out of the break, Saints' Gerrell Williams drove baseline leading to a layup and foul where he converted the three-point play tying the game up at 37-37.
The Saints would lead one more time during this contest but ultimately fell to the Kats 78-68.
With this loss the Saints currently sit at 15-11 overall and 3-7 in Region 3 play.
Mercyhurst was led by Omar Little Jr. who had a game high 23 points.
Up next, the Saints travel to Villa Maria College in Buffalo, NY where they look to get back on track. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
