Saints Name Miccio Head Lacrosse Coach

Eric Miccio has been named the newest men's Head Lacrosse Coach for the Mercyhurst North East Saints. The Saints recently made the decision to reinstate the lacrosse program, after losing it in 2013. "Mercyhurst North East is excited to bring back our lacrosse program to our campus"; says Athletic Director Brian Dewey. "The game is fast, fun to watch, and energetic. We are even more excited to have found someone like Coach Miccio to lead our program. He is young, smart, and full of passion. He is the perfect fit to not only bring in a class for next year, but to lead those young men. Eric knows what it takes to not only succeed at the junior college level, but to move on to a higher level with that success. He will be an excellent example for our future lacrosse players"

Miccio brings nearly a decade of playing and coaching experience at the elite levels to the Saints. While in high school at West Genesee (NY), Miccio led his team to a 2008 Class A State Championship. Miccio has also an award recipient for Section III Sportsmanship Award and the Bradly J Carr Award while in high school.

After graduating West Genesee HS, Miccio continued his playing career for the perennial national contender Onondaga Community College. Miccio won back-to-back NJCAA National Championships in 2009 and 2010 with the Onondaga Lazers.  He was a team captain and 2 year NJCAA Academic All-American.

After OCC, he would continue his playing career at NCAA DIII SUNY Oswego where he would help lead his team to a successful two year run while also collecting accolades such as 2012 team captain and  2012 All-Conference.

After graduating from Oswego, Miccio was hired as the Defensive Coach and Recruiting Coach for the men's lacrosse team at Oswego. He also had a short stint as the Interim Head Coach for the Oswego Lakers.

"I would like to thank our Athletic Director Brian Dewey for affording my wife and I the opportunity to be part of the Mercyhurst North East community"; states Miccio. I would also like to thank Coach Martin, Coach Wilbur, and Coach Messere for their guidance and knowledge that I needed as a young person. I look forward to bringing an exciting brand of lacrosse while recruiting talented student-athletes to our program. We will be competing in the Spring of 2017 and our staff will work diligently to put a good product not only on the field but also in the classroom and the community"
