Men's Soccer Out Shoots Niagara County CC, But Comes Up Short In Goals

The Mercyhurst North East Saints were back on the road for this past Wednesday when they traveled to Niagara Community College for their Fourth game of the season. The men's team would end up playing after the Mercyhurst North East Woman's team recorded a victory over Niagara CC 3-0.  After a few storm delays pushed the Lady Saints game back, the Men's game finally got kicked off with Mercyhurst North East quick to jump on top of the game. The Saints outshot their opponents 9-6 in the first half with a few clear cut chances to get on the board but the first half ended scoreless.

Just 3 minutes into the second half, however, the Saints would get on the board to go up 1-0 from a header from Centreback Riley Michaels, with assist from Nathan Angelo. The lead was short lived after Niagara was able to equalize just 5 minutes later. With the game now tied, the game became an end to end battle with both teams seeing good scoring opportunities. Finally, in the 75th minute, Niagara was able to capitalize on poor marking from the Saints in their own box as they put away the second and final goal of the game to give the Thunder Wolves of Niagara the win.

The Saints would outshoot their opponents again in the second half, 9-5, but it wouldn't end up in their favor as the final ended 2-1 leaving the Mercyhurst North East men's sitting at .500 with a 2-2 record. The Saints are back in action again this Saturday as they take on Lorain Community College at home at 1:00 pm.
