Men's Soccer Rolls Past PSU New Kensington 6-0

The Mercyhurst North East Saints went on the road to take on Penn State New Kensington last night in their first of only two , regular season, games remaining. Coming off a good performance against the Mercyhurst Erie Campus JV team over this past weekend, the Saints were ready and eager to get back on the pitch and put together another quality game. From the first whistle, the Saints saw a majority of the possession with a few early chances in the first 10 minutes of the game. After a good slip pass from #8 barrington Smith, #12, Anthony Martone was able to slip in between the New Kensington Defense to finish off the first goal of the night. The Second half would finish 2-0 in favor of North East, the second goal coming off a powerful headed finish, by #3, Jai Strayhorn, after a long thrown in from the Captain, #9, Nathan Angelo.

The Second half would start out a little bit more back in forth in the first 15 minutes.  #0, Justin Baker, who had come on as the Saints' Goalkeeper at halftime, was called on 4 times to keep the ball out of the net. Baker, would also get a chance late in the game to take a Penalty kick. But after a quality stutter step to put the New Kensington Keeper one way, Baker couldn't convert. The game would end 6-0 with #4, Riley Michels, Netting 2 goals: the second coming with only seconds left in the match after brilliant play from #13, Jaheed Loblack, and a goal apiece from #8, Barrington smith and #10, Devin Mason.

The Saints Travel to Owens Community College this coming Sunday, October 18th for their final regular season game.
