The Saints were back in action again this Tuesday, September 27th at Lorain Community College. This would be the second game against Lorain in back to back matchups. The First game against Lorain on Friday, September 23rd, ended 7-2 in the Saints favor. Fridays game would be the first win of the season for the Saints and it came in spectacular fashion with 5 different North East Players getting on the score sheet.
#2, Jaheed Loblack, lead the team with points with 2 goals and 2 assists. #20,Gavin Flores, who is also a member of the saint's lacrosse team, got himself his first goals of the season, with one of them coming on a penalty kick. #13, Anthony Martone Tallied a goal, assist, and could have double his scoring talley on another PK attempt, but the Lorain Goalkeeper was able to keep the spot kick out. #10, Alex Simos and #6, Tom Sedgwick rounded out the scoring with their respective first goals of the season to give the Saints their 7 goals in the math.
The Saints ended up out shooting Lorain 33 to 8 to complete their best offensive performance of the year. The second meeting between the two teams, would be a much tighter match as the game would end 2-1 in favor of Mercyhurst North East. The first half of the game ended 1-0 with an own goal scored by Lorain after a corner kick taken by #13, Anthony Martone. The rest of the half saw plenty of chances and good attacking play from the Saints, but the field and weather conditions were enough to keep their goal scoring at bay. At the start of the second half, Lorain began to put on the pressure as they would hit the crossbar and force goalkeeper, #00, Jason Marczak to make 5 saves. #10 Alex Simos would eventually put the game winning goal in after #2, Jaheed Loblack broke in behind the Lorain Defense to go one on one with the Goalkeeper. Jaheed would push the ball past the keeper for Simos to get the Easy tap in. Lorain would eventually pull a goal back after a penalty shot for a Saint's hand ball in the box.
The Saints will be back in action this Saturday, October 1st, 2016 at home in a double header Pink game, for breast cancer awareness, with the North East Woman's Soccer team.
