Coming off of a 2-0 start to the season, the Saint's would host Erie Community College at their home opener in a double header with the Lady Saints. As the game kicked off, the Saints would find themselves on their heels as Erie CC applied immediate pressure. Five minutes in, the Saints would give up a penalty kick, only to see Erie blast it off the crossbar and out to keep the score level at 0-0. Not five minutes later, however, Erie would go up 1-0 off an unfortunate deflection on an Erie CC free kick. A poor clearance from a Saints player sent the ball over the head of Goalkeeper, Jason Marczak, to put MNE down 1-0. The goal would be listed as an own goal.
At half the score was 1-0 in favor of Erie CC. Although the Saints put together a much better performance in the second half, they would conceded two more goals on counter attacks to suffer their first loss of the season putting them at 2-1. This was also the first game, including preseason matches, the Saints were kept off the score sheet themselves. The Saints will travel to Mercyhurst University, Erie Campus, to take on their JV team this Wednesday, September 6th, and then travel to Lakeland community college for the Lakeland tournament on September 9th and 10th.
