The Saints' got their first win of the fall 2018 season yesterday as they hosted Jamestown CC at Vineyard field. After a few close games that ended in draws, the Saints were able to put together a complete 90 minutes that saw them defeat Jamestown CC 3-1 in convincing fashion.
Goals from #6 Jonathan Mombolo and #9 Adolphe Yerebe put the Saints up 2-0 at half time. For Mombolo, a freshman winger, this would be his 3rd goal of the season, making him the leading scorer for the Saints this year. For Yerebe, his goal would be the first of the season and first of his career for the Saints.
The second half would start with an even bigger bang as the Saints would score within the first 20 seconds of the whistle being blown. Yerebe and Mombolo would both be involved in the Saints third and final goal, as Yerebe would take the ball from the kick off and beat a whole wave of Jamestown defenders before having it poked away from him at the top of Jamestown's box. The tackle would see the ball pop out to #6, Jonathan Mombolo, who would only need one touch to chip the Jamestown keeper from just outside the 18 yard box for the Saints third and final goal of the game. This would put Mombolo at 4 goals on the season, and 3 goals in the Saints last two matches.
The Saints are back in action again this Friday as they host a double header, along with the Lady Saints, when they take on Genesee CC
