Mercyhurst North East came from behind to take the first game of a double header against Franklin Saturday morning in Clermont, FL.
Franklin scored in the top of the fourth with two singles and two walks. They were poised to score more but Sam Mott got a pop up to second to end the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, Heather Mueller singled to left and then stole second. Emily Foy then singled to give MNE first and third. The Saints executed a double steal to tie the game as Mueller scored easily.
In the fifth, Megan Minihane signaled to center with one out. On a wild pitch, Minihane advanced all the way to third and would later score with an aggressive move at home to give the Saints the lead.
In the sixth, the Saints added two more insurance runs. Kim Burdett and Mott both got hits to start the inning. Burdett would score on a wild pitch and soon after Taylor Wilson drove home Alicia Ngraingas.
Sam Mott earned the win in the circle, striking out 10 and scattering five hits.
