Mercyhurst played a sloppy game and it cost them as they fell to Schoolcraft Community College in their first game of the day.
In the first inning, Saints starter Lea Theisen struggled with her command as two walks and a hit allowed Schoolcraft to take an early lead. She would allow another in the third as the Saint fell behind 2-0.
Mercyhurst could not find a clutch hit as they left seven runner on in the first four innings without scoring a run.
In the fifth, the Saints finally woke up the bats as Emily Foy doubled to open the inning. She would later score on an error and after a walk gave the Saints 1st and 2nd with one out, Kaelyn Shea ripped a double to right to score both runs and give the Saints a 3-2 lead.
That lead would be short lived however, as Schoolcraft took advantage of a two out error to stay alive. A bloop single and a double to left would put them back ahead.
Mercyhurst had chances, including the tying run on second with one out in the seventh, but couldn't get another hit as they lost in seven innings.
Theisen settled down later in the game, but was charged with the loss as all four runs scored under her watch.
