Mercyhurst avenged their early season loss to Jackson by winning 7-2 over the Jets Sunday afternoon. Mercyhurst scored five runs in the top of the first inning to take control.
Mackenzie Hawley led the game off with a single and advanced to third on a double by Aren Schwab. Kim Burdett put the Saints on the scoreboard with a two run double down the left field line. After a walk gave the Saints first and third with two outs, Taylor Wilson smashed a three run homer to right center to put the Saints up 5-0.
Kiersten Coho took the ball and held the Jackson Jets to just two runs over seven innings to earn her second victory in as many starts. Coho struck out seven and was efficient with her pitches. Throwing 77 strikes compared to just 22 balls.
Schwab and Burdett led the Saints offense with two doubles each while Schwab and Hawley both scored twice.
Mercyhurst is now 3-3 as their season continues in Clermont with two more games on Monday evening. The Saints will play Davenport and Schoolcraft.
