Saints Drop Sixth Straight Softball Game

Saints Drop Sixth Straight Softball Game

Mercyhurst North East continues to look for answers as they dropped their sixth straight game. This time to Oakland Community College.

The Saints scored first in the third inning when Grace Edwards singled and would later advance to third on a Kaelyn Shea hit. Shea then stole second and Edwards alertly raced home for a 1-0 Saints lead.

Oakland then got the bats going, scoring four over the next few innings of Saints starter Sam Mott.

Mercyhurst mounted a major threat in the fifth, loading the bases with 1 out, but a line drive to second and baserunning mistake resulted in an inning ending double play.

In the sixth, Hannah Larkin singled to right and Edwards smashed a triple to right to plate Larkin to but the lead to 4-2. After Oakland scored three more in the top of the seventh, Mercyhurst got the bases loaded again, this time with nobody out. However, a pick off and pop up would seal the victory for Oakland.

Mercyhurst falls to 4-9 and will be back in action early Saturday morning with a game vs Mott Community College at 9am.
