Mercyhurst North East broke up a scoreless tie with a six run seventh inning to beat 13th ranked CCBC Catonsville Thursday afternoon.
While Kiersten Coho was holding the Cardinals at bay, the Saints failed to get a run home in the first six innings.
But in the seventh, the Saints broke down the door they had been knocking on all game. Emily Foy tripled to right center to start the inning. Kim Burdett then put the Saints on the board with a single. Aren Schwab then doubled to left to make it 2-0. The Saints would go on to score four more in the inning.
Coho then took to the circle to compete her 3 hit shutout. She also struck out seven and walked only one.
Hannah Larkin led the Saints with two hits, including a double.
