Mercyhurst North East 2

In Middletown, NY, Orange used two separate two-run home runs as they defeated the Saints in a rematch of last year's region championship game.

The Saints took a 1-0 lead in the second when a bases loaded line drive was snagged by the second baseman. The attempted to double off the runner on second was wide and allowed Kiersten Coho to run home.

In the third, Orange took the lead with a two run home run to right center. A walk and two more hits allowed Orange to go ahead 3-1.

The Saints closed the gap to 3-2 in the fourth after two hits and a sac fly by Hannah Larkin. However, Orange drilled another two run homer in the fifth to make it 5-2.

Mercyhurst had chances to even the score. In the sixth a leadoff single was followed by a double play. In the seventh, the Saints had the tying run at the plate with one out, but a strikeout and fly ball ended the game.

Mercyhurst lost despite out hitting the Colts 11-8. However the Orange home runs were too much to overcome.
