It seems like a long time ago that the Saints returned from Florida with a record of 5 wins and 11 losses. A new found attitude about the way they would approach the season has paid off with another Regional Championship.

Since the Florida trip, the Saints have an amazing record 28-4, two of those losses to SUNY Orange back in early April. The Saints avenged those losses this weekend, capping it off with a victory of that very same team in the championship game Sunday afternoon.

The Colts punched first, getting a double and single in the first inning to make it 1-0.

Mercyhurst responded with two runs in the bottom half, both scoring on a two-out single by Sam Mott. From there, Saints pitcher Kiersten Coho and Colts pitcher Erin Dunn danced out of trouble until the fifth inning, when Dunn got a two out single of her own to tie the game at 2-2.

In the bottom half, Kaelyn Shea singled to start the inning, and two walks loaded the bases for Kim Burdett. She lifted a sac fly to left to give the Saints back the lead. But Mercyhurst wasn't done there.

Sam Mott then hit another two run single, followed by RBI hits by Grace Edwards and Heather Mueller. After an error, Shea then stroked a two run homer to center and all of the sudden, the Saints led 10-2.

Coho took it from there, finishing the game with seven strikeouts to notch her third win of the weekend.

Mott was 3-for-3 on the day with four RBIs. Shea also had three hits while Mueller finished with two.

The Saints are now 33-15 on the season and will be heading to Warwick, RI next weekend to participate in the District Tournament.
