After winning the last few games coming from behind, the Saints fell victim to the same circumstance while suffering their first loss Sunday afternoon.
Mercyhurst would add an insurance run in the top of the sixth when Ashlyn Slusher doubled to right center and was replaced by pinch runner Raven Magrino. Magrino would score when Larkin poked another single to center.
Lei Gutherie was seemingly in control at this point, but an error and walk allowed the tying run to come to bat and she delivered a three run homer to tie the score and send the game to extra innings.
Playing with the international tie breaker, the Saints failed to score in the top half. Idaho won the game with back to back infield hits to end the game.
Mercyhurst falls to 4-1 on the season and will be back in action at 3:30 on Monday.
