Saints Cant Hold On Late Saturday

Mercyhurst North East collected the first win of the 2018 season with an offensive onslaught and a zero error game Saturday afternoon.

Justine Dean picked up her first college win, going four innings and striking out five. She allowed just the one run, on a bloop single in the fourth inning.

Aylssa Johnston led the Saints offense with a 3-for-4 performance and four RBIs. Johnston double twice as part of her effort.

Hannah Davis also had three hits for the Saints, including a double and triple. Rachel Shaheen drove home four runs on two hits, including a bases clearing double early in the game. Tori Harding also had two hits, including a triple to help the winners.

Despite out hitting Bethel, the Saints lost a close game under the lights late Saturday night.

Mercyhurst had 14 hits to Bethel's 9, but the Saints had some costly defensive mistakes to allow some late runs.

Aylssa Johnston continued her big day with another 3 hit performace from the plate to lead the Saints.

Rachel Shaheen hit two doubles while teammates Lei Guthrie, Justine Dean, and Wilmari Guzman all added two hits each in a losing effort.

The Saints fall to 1-3 on the year and will be back in action Sunday in Florida.
