Delta Community College 10 (9 Innings)
Ayla Bragg capped an unbelievable comeback with a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Saints to victory Wednesday night.
Braggs hit comes just a day after learning her grandmother passed away. Bragg was playing her last game of the trip before catching an early flight home to be with family.
Sloppy defense put the Saints down 9-1 going into the bottom of the fourth. Tori Harding entered the game to pitch and would not allow a run the rest of the game, except the 9th with the International Tie breaker starting on second.
The Saints offense took hold and they climbed back into the game four runs in the fourth inning. Another four in the bottom of the sixth tied the game as the teams went to extra innings.
Neither team scored in the 8th, as both teams had baserunners gunned down. In the top of the ninth, Delta got a hit to score a run and the score was then 10-9.
In the bottom of the ninth, Riplee Burkhart hit a ball to center to tie the game. Justine Dean then singled up the middle to put two runners one. Kirsten Renninger laid down a perfect sac bunt and an intentional walk loaded the bases with one out to bring up Bragg. Bragg fouled off five pitches before roping a single to left center as Burkhart raced home with the game winner.
Harding picked up her first college win, going the final 4.1 innings and not allowing an earned run.
