Mercyhurst took an early lead but had to hang on against a pesky Lazer team in the first game Friday.

The Saints scored five runs in the first inning, but found themselves only ahead 6-5 going into the fourth. The offense kept scoring, to help overcome some mistakes and give the Saints the win.

Alyssa Johnston continued her tear, getting another two hits and two RBIs. Jill Berguson added two hits as well to go along with two RBIs to help the Saints.

Lei Guthrie got the win, striking out five in 4.2 innings but struggled with her command. Justine Dean relieved her in the fourth, and pitched the final 2.1 to earn the save.
