Three Saints were honored by NFCA coaches association over the weekend by getting selected to the NFCA All East Region team. The East Region is comprised of colleges in PA, NY, NJ, DE, NC, VA, OH, and MI. The selections are made by the coaches of the Division 2 programs in those states.
Lei Guthrie was selected for the second time in as many years. The sophomore led the Saints pitching staff, going 12-5 on the year with 118 strikeouts in just 107 innings after missing the first 14 games of the year. Her 2.29 ERA was among the best in Division 2 softball. At the plate, Guthrie hit .402 with a team leading 11 home runs and 47 RBIs.
Riplee Burkhart joined her after a sensational freshman year. Burkhart (Verona, PA) hit .425 with a team leading 64 runs scored. She also led the team in walks with 24 and steals with 10 while playing every game at shortstop for the Saints.
Lea Munnell also gets honored by the NFCA after hitting .407 in her freshman year. Munnell (Masury, OH), also had 55 hits, 25 RBIs, and seven steals while starting 43 games for the Saints this year between outfield and catcher.
