The Saints Softball team concluded their spring trip on Sunday (3/10) by squaring off against Mott C.C and Heartland C.C. The Saints, who have had quite the start to the season, entered the day 13-2 overall, but failed to improve their record as they dropped two close ones, which brings their record to 13-4 heading home to North East.
In their game against Mott C.C, the Saints couldn't seem to get anything going offensively, as they were held scoreless through 7 innings. Despite playing good defense, Mott was able to put 3 runs across in the 3rd, which is all they needed. The Saints ended up losing the game 3-0.
The Saints again couldn't seem to get anything going offensvieluy in the second game of the day against Heartland C.C. The Saints were held scoreless for a second time, as Heartland tallied runs in both the 5th and 7th inning.
Despite the loss, Sierra Reid tossed a solid game giving up 2 runs (0ER) on 8 hits, while striking out 3. Offensively, the Saints were led by Cheyenne Hindman, Asja Johnson, and Wilmari Guzman, who each had 2 hits in the loss.
When asked to reflect upon the spring trip, Coach Dewey commented that "overall, the trip had more positives than negatives. We saw what we can be when we are at our best, but unfortunately, we also saw how bad we can be when we our at our worst. It is clear to me that we control how good we can be, and it'll be our attitude that dictates how far we go.
The Saints are back in action on March 16th and 17th as they travel to Hagerstown, MD to take on Jefferson C.C. and Hagerstown C.C.
