Sampson's Game High 26 Points Leads Saints Past Pioneers

(Thursday, 2/5/15) The Saints hosted the Pioneers of Alfed State with hopes of getting even after losing to Alfred in early December, 52-50.

In first half action, the Saints took an early lead and were up by as many as 10 points. The Pioneers would work their way back into the game and they did it by out rebounding the Saints 29-17 on the boards. This would ultimately lead to Alfred State gaining the lead, which would go into halftime.

The Saints found themselves down 32-28 entering the second half, but have been in this situation many times this season, and most always find a way to come back. This game seemed to be no different.

The Saints dominated play in the second half beating Alfred State in almost every category. Lead by 18 second half points from Kashawnna Sampson, the Saints rallied to outscore the Pioneers 41-29 in the second half. With some solid free throw shooting at the end, the Saints would take the win, 69-61.

Highlights from the game include Kashawnna Sampsons game high 26 points, followed by 11 points from Brea Forney and 10 points and 10 rebounds from Jalin Steel.

The Saints moved to 13-8 on the season and are back in action on Saturday as they travel to Genesee Community College to take on the Cougars.
