(North East, PA) The Saints women's basketball team captured their first win of the season under the direction of new head coach Amy Senefelder, as they beat Pitt-Titusville 70-35.
The Saints took the lead immediately after tip off and never trailed for the rest of the game. Strong shooting and dominating rebounding helped the Saints capture a 36-14 lead going into the half.
The second half seemed to play out similar to the first as the Saints outscored Pitt-Titusville 34-21 in the second half to earn the 70-35 win.
All 10 Saints players saw minutes while 8 out of the 10 players got in the books with at least 2 points. The Saints were led by Mikayla Cagnoli's 20 points and 12 rebounds. Megan McKinney and Jaida Dixon each scored in double digits with 11 points, while Amanda Sonney played a solid all around game with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Saints forward Kym Braine chipped in with a solid 12 rebounds. As a team the Saints out rebounded Pitt-Titusville 68-31.
Pitt-Titusville's Ciara Clark scored a game high 25 points while Mikayla Newell scored the remaining 10 points for Pitt.
The Saints move to 1-4 on the season and are back in action on Monday when they travel to Pitt-Titusville for a rematch.
