Braine Sets School Record in Loss to Potomac State

The women's basketball team hosted Potomac State on Saturday in a non-region match-up. Through 3 quarters, the Saints stellar defense and composed play kept them in the game vs. the 8-3 Catamounts as the score going into the last quarter was 24-20 in favor of the visitors.

The fourth quarter was all Catamounts as they outscored the Saints 21-14 to give them a little breathing room as they finished off the Saints 45-34 for the win. The Catamounts moved to 9-3 on the season while the Saints dropped to 2-6.

For the Saints, newcomer Kayla Pound recorded her first double-double of the season as she had a game high 13 points to go with 10 rebounds.

The story of the game was the 26 rebounds Kym Braine recorded throughout the game. This is a new MNE women's basketball team record as she surpassed Jeanette Meacham's 24 rebounds in a single game during the 2005-2006 season. Braine had 9 rebounds at halftime, which was on par with her normal performance. It was her 11 rebounds in the 3rd quarter that jolted her to the record as she had 20 boards through 3 quarters. With another 6 in the fourth quarter, she took the all time single game record for herself with 26 rebounds.

The Saints are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Niagara County Community College to take on the Thunderwolves.
