The women's basketball team defeated Genesee Community College on Wednesday evening in a Region III Sub-regional match-up.
From the opening tip, the Saints came out energized and confident which helped them get off the an early 21-11 first quarter lead.
Led by Megan McKinney's 14 points and Kym Braines 10 points and 9 rebounds at half, the Saints took a 44-26 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
As the second half got underway, the Saints would outscore the Cougars 24-9 in the 3rd quarter to give them the big lead going into the final quarter, 68-35.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd the Saints would coast out the fourth quarter, seeing every player on the Saints active roster score. The final would show 86-49 on the scoreboard.
Megan McKinney lead all scores with 31 points and 9 rebounds. Kayla Pound chipped in with a near triple double as she scored 15 points, gathered 12 rebounds and have 9 steals. Kym Braine, Deja Dixon and Jaida Dixon each cashed in 12 points and Andrea Thornton went 2-3 from the field for 4 points off the bench.
With the win, the Saints move on to the Region III Semi Finals where they face off against Niagara County Community College at Monroe CC in Rochester, NY on Saturday. The winner advances to the Region III Championship on Sunday.
