This week we sat down with James "Jimmy" Conroy. Conroy is the assistant wrestling coach as well as a graduate assistant in the athletic department. He just recently finished his two year graduate position and is looking to move on in his career.
What is your wrestling background?
I was New Jersey State Champion as well as a 4 time state placer winner at South Plainfield High School. In college I was a 2x EWL champion and 2x NCAA national qualifier for the University of Pittsburgh.
When did you start coaching? When did you start coaching at MNE?
I started coaching my senior of college at the Pittsburgh Wrestling Club. I started coaching at MNE in August of 2013,
What is your best MNE Wrestling memory?
Being able to coach at the NJCAA national championships
The wrestling team has been to nationals for years now, you're a region powerhouse, what do you dedicate that continued level of success to?
I dedicate it to Head Coach Aaron Cooper's ability to not only recruit and develop top wrestlers but, also his ability help his athletes acclimate to a college environment.
What is your favorite aspect of coaching at MNE?
That it's a small school so it is easy to keep track of your athletes' behavior.
What is the most important lesson you have learned from coaching at MNE? What is the most important lesson you have taught coaching at MNE?
Learned: not every kid can make it college athletics.
What is your personal best achievement/experience coaching wrestling at MNE?
Getting to coaches athletes from a variety of backgrounds.
What sports did you play growing up?
Baseball, football, track/cross country, and of course wrestling
Besides wrestling, what is your favorite sport to watch? Play?

Bruce Baumgartner, 4x Olympic medalist
If you could be any athlete for a day, who would you be and why?
Derek Jeter, because he is the man.

My dad because he is a no B.S. guy and you always know where you stand with him I respect that a lot.

When you get put to your back, fight off.
