Saints Compete with Top Teams in the Country

Last weekend, the Saints wrestling team traveled to the Spire Institute to take part in the Cleveland State Duals. The duals involved some of the top teams in the country at all divisions.

Kent State, University of Akron, Bladwin Wallace, Tiffin University, Lake Erie College, Mercyhurst North East, University of Toledo and Cleveland State were all represented at the duals.

In the first round of the tournament, the Saints opened up against the #8 team in the country at the NCAA Division II level, Lake Erie College. Lake Erie came out on top 46-0.

In the consolation bracket, the Saints would face off against Univerity of Toledo. The Saints took the match 53-6 to advance to the semi finals in the consolation bracket.

In what turned out to be their last match of the duals, the Saints squared off against the #11 NCAA division II team, Tiffin University in which the Saints fell 39-6.

"We wrestled very well, although the scoreboard didnt show it. It was great to wrestling against some of the top programs in the country," says head coach Aaron Cooper.

The Saints are back in action on Wednesday, November 18th as they travel to take on region foe Jamestown Community College.
