Wrestling Defeats JCC 30-26

The Mercyhurst North East wrestlers traveled to Jamestown CC on Wednesday night and came out victorious against the regional foe.

The night started at 125 with freshman Nickolas Oosterkamp winning by fall. Oosterkamp continued his undefeated season.

It was at this point, where Coach Cooper had to get creative. The Saints were battling injuries to 197 pounder Hunter Harnish and 174 pounder Baren Berg. Cooper elected to moved everyone up one weight class starting with Skyler Curry wrestling up at 149. Curry, the Saints usual 141 pounder, won by fall.

At 157 Aaron Morris was also victorious by fall, as the trend of the night started to take place.

165 pounder Spencer Head won a hard fought match, winning in the third period by fall.

The early victories were enough for the Saints to hold off the Jayhawks. This victory moves the Saint to 3-2 in dual meets and 2-0 against regional opponents.

They are back in action on Saturday as they travel to the Baldwin Wallace invitational in Berea, OH.
