On Thursday afternoon, the women?s soccer team lost their home opener to Genesee.
In first half action, the score was even at zero for the first 40 minutes of play until the Cougars scored off a deflection by the Saints for an own goal. Three minutes later, the Cougars took advantage when they serviced a ball into the box and Rachel Ball, from Genesee, was on the back end for the finish. Moving the score to 2-0 at halftime.
In second half action, the Saints kept pressure on to try to even the game, but just couldn?t get a finish. With eight minutes remaining in the game, Genesee brought in their third and final goal to end the score at 3-0.
Olivia Shear recorded twelve saves in goal for the Saints. The Saints drop to 0-1-0 and are back in action on Tuesday, September 3rd when they take on Niagara CC on the road, and then back home as they face off against Lorain CC on Sept 7.
